We hope you are able to see this wonderful artwork in person. These watercolor paintings of Maine landscapes are by Julian Sacks, a beloved former TBE member. Thank you to Marie Sacks for letting us show them. To arrange a viewing, contact Ellen Freed or Dawn in the Temple office (bethelaugusta@gmail.com). If you can’t come by in person, you can see the exhibit below. All paintings are for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to the Temple. Unframed paintings are $300 and framed paintings are $450.
About the Artist:
Born in New York City, Sacks was a medical student at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and later practiced psychiatry in Boston and Maine. Whether the landscape is dominated by nature and farmhouses or city streets and skyscrapers, he transmits a particularly life-affirming feeling of place with his loose and energetic style. About his work he said:
“I have enjoyed drawing and painting since childhood. After retiring from practicing psychiatry 13 years ago I applied myself full-time to art. My main interest is watercolor painting, mainly landscapes and seascapes, but also portraits and still-lifes. I paint mostly outdoors and from live models.”
